Original Freefall Art:

Florence Ambrose - 4/4/2002

Cartoon Character from "Freefall" comic strip,

Pencil sketch - HB (#2) mechanical pencil

This is from my small sketchbook. It's the first sketch of this character that I thought I really got her "right" in. I was looking at a copy of a panel from one of Mark's cartoons, trying to capture the same pose and expression.

Color sketch - Carbon pencils and colored pencils, inked line art.

My first attempt at a color picture of Florence, using traditional media rather than computer coloring. I looked at several comic panels of Florence, while trying to create this portrait. I am not quite satisfied with the fur and hair colors, but I had a limited range of supplies available on my trip. Otherwise, I think I did pretty well with this one.

Pencil sketch - HB (#2) mechanical pencil

This is from my small sketchbook. It's my first good sketch of this character where I tried a full body portrait. I was working from a cartoon panel that only showed her to just below her elbow, and from a few other panels in other poses, showing what her legs were like. So from the waist down and her left hand is "original art".

 Colored Freefall comic strips:

My colored comics have been moved to the Freefall Color Volume II website. Go to the comic search engine, and search for 'Porter' in the Artist field. That will bring up all the strips I have colored so far.
